From the recording Driftin' Lost Cowboy

We played a lovely festival in Shady Dale, Georgia... called Brookestock! This festival is hosted by Brookes Hunnicutt! We had so much fun that whole weekend that when we headed for home we decided to take the scenic route. We drove down through Montgomery, Alabama, where "Luke The Drifter" lay to rest. We payed our respects at his gravesite and then visited the Hank Williams Museum honoring him and his music. We saw everything "HANK"... Hank's hotel receipts, Hank's music scores, Hank's guitars, Hank's blue caddy, everything you can imagine.
When we left, we were quite filled. Shan continued to drive, and I RESTED my eyes. I was feeling a little guilty for not driving a bit the whole trip and then here I, was RESTING my eyes... BUT, as I RESTED my eyes, I had a vision... I was playing a show, singing some Patsy Cline songs, and in walks Hank Williams. He marches right up to me and asks me to take a ride with him... well, I sigh.... and...

Wake UP!!! Quickly I tell Shan that I have an idea for a song... I have a melody, and Shan and I write the song in about 15 minutes! No Joke!
I guess RESTING your eyes can be quite beneficial.

Once the song was written... I'm sure I "drifted" back to sleep...

Lyrics

DRIFTIN' LOST COWBOY

Last night I dreamed that Hank found me
Singing some Patsy Cline songs
He said “I’m travelin’ down this lonesome lost highway
And I’s wonderin’ if you’d come along”

Where are you driftin’ lost cowboy?
Where will ya take me tonight?
See, I’ve gotta finish this show I’m doin’
Before they turn out the lights

So Hank jumped up on stage with his old Gibson
He sang a song so lonesome I could cry
Then he stared at me but for a moment
And I answered back with a SIGH…. Oh Hank!

Where are you driftin’ lost cowboy?
Where will ya take me tonight?
See, I’ve gotta finish this show I’m doin’
Before they turn out the lights

Come On!

A blue Cadillac sat in the driveway
He revved the engine up and I hopped in
And we rode along into the sunset
And that, my friends; is where this dream will end

Where are you driftin’ lost cowboy?
Where will ya take me tonight?
See, I’ve gotta finish this show I’m doin’
Before they turn out the lights

Woooo!
